An Australian Taxation Office (ATO) scheme. You make voluntary contributions into your super (up to $15,000 per financial year, up to a $50,000 lifetime total), then request an FHSS determination and a release through myGov when you are ready to buy. The ATO releases your eligible contributions plus an associated-earnings amount it calculates. It involves super and tax, so it is worth getting advice before you start.
Request your FHSS determination from the ATO via myGov BEFORE the property transfers to you, then submit one release request. After the release you have 12 months to sign a contract to buy or build, and must notify the ATO within 90 days of signing. The ATO website is the source of truth; a financial adviser or accountant can confirm it suits you.
BuildPilot is a curator, not a financial adviser. Amounts and thresholds change each financial year (typically 1 July). Always confirm current figures with the State Revenue Office and your conveyancer before making a decision.
