Opportunity & Referral Disclosure

BuildPilot is a building-industry navigation, recommendation, advertising and opportunity platform. We have commercial relationships with some of the businesses you may see on the platform. This page explains those relationships in plain English so you know exactly how we make money - and how it does (and does not) interact with the recommendations you see.

The four commercial relationships

• Referral fee - paid to BuildPilot by a business when an introduced user becomes their customer. The same fee structure applies across comparable businesses.
• Opportunity fee - paid by a business to receive a qualified opportunity (a user enquiry, project brief or shortlist match) that BuildPilot has reviewed.
• Advertising fee - paid by a business to display a Sponsored or Advertisement placement on the platform.
• Featured placement fee - paid by a business to appear in a defined Featured slot with additional visibility.

The firewall

Commercial arrangements do not influence the order of organic recommendations. The recommendation engine is driven by suitability - not by what a business pays. Featured and Sponsored placements are clearly labelled and shown in distinct slots so you can tell them apart from organic recommendations. See our Recommendations Policy for the full methodology.

When we share your information with a business

When BuildPilot introduces you to a business, we share relevant parts of your project brief (such as build type, suburb, bedrooms, timing and budget range) with a small number of suitable businesses so they can respond. We do not share information beyond what is necessary for that purpose, and we follow our Privacy Policy when we do.
