Stage

Just planning

You are early in the process. A lot of homeowners use this stage to map out who will hire each trade, what order trades come in, and where to verify licences before any work starts.

Things people often look at during this stage

  • Whether your builder will manage the trades, or whether you will engage some directly.
  • The order of trades you are likely to need across the build.
  • The licences and registrations that apply to each trade in your state.
  • What insurance the trades carry, and what cover you may want yourself.

Putting numbers around the trades you will need? Our independent Adelaide Build Cost Report 2026 covers per square metre rates, site cost bands and the line items most quotes leave out.
