Builders

Before signing a building contract, the items below are commonly checked by South Australian homeowners. Each link goes to the official register or regulator.

Trades

Trade work like electrical, plumbing, gas-fitting, refrigeration and asbestos handling is licensed separately to a builder's licence. Each state runs its own licensing authority.

Suppliers

Suppliers do not need a building licence, but there are still public records and consumer-law sources worth checking before you order from one - especially for owner-supplied items.

Professional Services

Building professionals (architects, designers, town planners, surveyors, engineers, conveyancers, lawyers, finance brokers) each belong to their own profession's board or register.
