How we research, write and review building advice

Every guide on BuildPilot is written or reviewed by a qualified, licensed building professional. We cite official primary sources for every cost figure, regulation and grant claim, and refresh content regularly so the advice stays accurate for Adelaide buyers.

Independence

We do not name builders we are not partnered with, and we never publish negative claims about specific builders. Our partner relationships are disclosed on our partners page.

Primary sources

Every cost figure, grant amount, regulation or building rule is linked to an official primary source: RevenueSA, PlanSA, ABS, Government of SA Consumer & Business Services, HIA, MBA SA.

Qualified reviewers

Guides are reviewed by BuildPilot founder George Giannakakis, who personally holds a Master of Architecture (UniSA, 2010), an active South Australian real estate licence (RLA300580), and HIA-CSR South Australian Housing & Kitchen Awards judging credentials.

Fresh content

Every guide carries a visible “Last reviewed” date. We update guides at least quarterly and immediately when regulations, grant amounts or pricing benchmarks change.

Our 5-step content process

  1. 1

    Brief

We start with the question buyers actually ask. Topics come from our client conversations, builder partner feedback, and recurring queries from Adelaide builders, real estate agents and conveyancers.

  2. 2

    Research

We pull current data from RevenueSA, PlanSA, ABS, the SA Government Consumer & Business Services portal, HIA cost benchmarks and our partnered builders. We do not paraphrase other websites.

  3. 3

    Write

Drafts are written by trained content writers under direct editorial direction. We use plain Australian English, no jargon, and we never use AI without human review.

  4. 4

    Expert review

Every guide is reviewed and signed off by BuildPilot founder George Giannakakis (Master of Architecture, RLA300580, HIA-CSR judging panel). Cost claims, regulatory claims and process claims are line-checked against primary sources.

  5. 5

    Update

Guides carry a visible last-reviewed date. We re-check guides quarterly. When grants, regulations or benchmark prices change, we update the affected guides immediately and resubmit them to Google Search Console.

What we will publish

  • • Educational guidance on building processes, contracts and costs
  • • Comparisons between builder types, package types and process options
  • • Information about our partnered builders, with disclosure
  • • Government grant, levy and regulatory information with primary-source links
  • • General market commentary on Adelaide building costs and lead times

What we will not publish

  • • Negative claims, complaints or accusations about any specific builder
  • • Names of builders we are not formally partnered with
  • • Specific dollar quotes or fixed package prices we cannot stand behind
  • • Display home opening times we cannot guarantee are current
  • • AI-generated content without qualified human review

Corrections policy

We aim to be accurate. If you spot a factual error in any guide, blog post or cost figure on BuildPilot, please tell us. We act on credible correction requests within 5 business days. When we update a guide to fix a material error, we update the visible “Last reviewed” date and the underlying schema metadata at the same time.
