Advertising & Featured Placement Policy

BuildPilot operates as a navigation, recommendation, advertising and opportunity platform. We accept paid advertising and offer Featured and Sponsored business placements. This page sets out how those placements work.

Types of placement

• Listed - a business appears on the platform based on suitability. No payment is required to be listed.
• Documented - a business has provided additional profile information (e.g. ABN, accreditation memberships, sample work). BuildPilot reviews what is submitted but does not independently verify or guarantee a business's licence, insurance or accreditation status - users are always directed to confirm those themselves via our Licence & Insurance Checker.
• Featured - a paid placement that gives a business additional visibility in defined slots.
• Sponsored / Advertisement - a paid placement that promotes a specific message, product or service.

Labelling and visual distinction

Featured, Sponsored and Advertised placements are clearly labelled with the words "Featured", "Sponsored" or "Advertisement" (or a similar visible identifier) so you can always tell them apart from organic recommendations. They appear in visually distinct slots and are not represented as the algorithm's top organic match.

What paid placements do not change

A paid placement does not change where a business appears in our organic recommendations. The two systems sit behind a firewall. See our Recommendations Policy.

What we verify (and don't)

We moderate advertising for relevance, lawfulness and clarity. We do not independently verify every claim, price, credential or product feature in an advertisement. You should make your own enquiries before relying on advertiser content.

Your dealings with advertisers

When you respond to an advertiser, contact a Featured business, or take up an opportunity through a Sponsored placement, the resulting relationship is directly between you and that business. BuildPilot is not a party to it and is not responsible for performance, quality, pricing or outcomes.
