The period does not apply to sales by auction (or within 3 days before or after auction), or where you received independent legal advice before signing. Build contract (VIC)
Under the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic), a major domestic building contract carries a 5 business day cooling-off period from the day you receive the signed contract. Ask the builder to provide their VBA registration number, current Domestic Building Insurance (DBI) certificate of currency for builds over $16,000, and a fixed price with full inclusions list before you sign.
